Good Cop, Bad Money
by John Lansing

In an era where gangsters and thieves so often win—from Wall Street to the mean streets—we are ready for a true American hero, someone who believes in values, honor, truth, and justice. Glen Morisano is that American hero.

For twenty years, as part of the NYPD, he rose up the ranks from heading up one of the most successful drug task forces, to being brought in to fix the notorious 70th Precinct (where Abner Louima was sodomized). But it is the high-profile arrests—the arrest of jeweler to the stars, Jacob the Jeweler, bagging the Black Mafia, and putting away one Colombian drug lord after the next—that made a name for Glen Morisano.

He will tell you simply that it was his job. But for Glen, there was much more at play. When he was just a boy, his grandfather, his hero, was beaten to death on the Staten Island Ferry by a common thief. The bad guy got away with exactly eight dollars and twenty cents. But he took so much more that day and Glen vowed to avenge his grandfather’s murder the only way he knew how—by becoming the kind of man “Uncle Nick” would be proud of. That quest led him to the NYPD.

Glen’s story takes us on a thrill ride of a boy with a speech impediment, growing up in the household of an abusive, alcoholic father, in a neighborhood overrun by the mob, to find solace in sports and the memory of his grandfather, who overcomes it all to become one of the best cops New York City has ever seen.

Glen Morisano is the crime-fighting version of Rocky Balboa—the underdog, who kept fighting and winning with integrity to become a true American hero. We invite you to read his story.

The Brutus Gate
by
Billy Ray Chitwood

DescriptionBailey Crane, auxiliary cop for the Phoenix PD, is set-up by the bad guys and nearly consumed by a warehouse fire as this adventure begins. One of the thugs utters a mysterious phrase, 'Beware the Brutus Gate,' and the boys in blue have a good chuckle and try to figure out its meaning. This simple string of words marks the start of a tale that leads our southern muser/sleuth to the worst criminal elements in our society, elements that reach the highest levels of government and politics. Bailey encounters the players of the drug world, murder, and political corruption with his special panache and contempt. It's a case that has it all, and there are some personal changes in the life of our crusader for truth and justice. Bailey's emotions run the normal gamut as he plods and ponders his new realities, his life, and the meaning of it all. The climax to THE BRUTUS GATE plays out at an old ranch on the Mexican border, just south of Yuma, Arizona. It's a fun caper you won't want to miss.

Tales from the Promised Land
by
John Rose Putnam

DescriptionTales from the Promised Land is a collection of five of John’s most compelling stories of life in early California. From the tongue in cheek Bottomless Bartlett’s Beautiful Bride, in which a man offers $200 for a suitable wife, to Uncle Charley, where the rapidly changing times may surprise even a modern reader, each tale will leave your heart richer. A falling out between brothers is the focus of the powerful Payback at Murderer’s Bar, and in Firebaugh’s Ferry a reporter meets a woman at a lonely stage stop where the most wanted man in California will soon be executed. And with the adventurous Stoddard’s Gold comes a brand new twist to the famous yarn about a lost lake of gold high in the Sierra that will bring a smile to every face.
