Leap of Faith
by Larry LaVoie

Chad Beckman Mystery Series Book 1

Chad Beckman is alone and lonely. It has been a year since he lost his wife of twenty years to cancer and he struggles to find something to occupy his lonely hours. He sold his business and is considering running for mayor in the picturesque town of Bay View, on the Oregon coast. In the early morning hours he enjoys fly fishing. His favorite stream brings him in contact with Linda Strainer, a well known artist, famous for her landscapes, who one morning is occupying the spot where he likes to fish. As they confront one another they hear a gun shot. As a body is dumped into the river, they see just enough to put their lives in danger.

There have been a lot of murders around Bay View lately. The local newspaper publishes Chad and Linda’s story, not mentioning them by name, and unknowingly, they become targets of the killer. Now, the once tranquil Oregon Coast community of Bay View suddenly becomes a hotbed of crime and intrigue as the murderer and his inept accomplice search for Chad and Linda.

To make matters worse, Bay View has other secrets long thought forgotten. In the aftermath of a suspicious fire, a long dead body is discovered stuffed in the brickwork of a building owned by the corrupt mayor of Bay View. Chad’s friend Blake, who helped build the fireplace years earlier, is arrested for the murder and may be the key that unlocks the mystery as to why there are so many murders in the small community.

Leap of Faith is the first in the Chad Beckman Mystery Series.
