Heir to Power

Our Review of Heir to Power

The Healing Crystal Trilogy, Book One

The colony of Survin has been hidden for centuries, protecting an ancient religious artifact called the Healing Crystal from men who would steal or destroy it. Kairma, heir to the Crystal, is destined to mate with the handsome Naturi and become the leader of the reclusive colony, but she is too young to realize the peril soon to arrive. At sixteen, Kairma is too young to realize many things ....

Kairma would rather go spelunking with her brother and his best friend than study ancient medicine and religious laws, but the discovery of a tomb containing ancient artifacts leads Kairma to question her religion and the true nature of the Crystal. To further complicate Kairma's ascent, a childhood illness has left her resembling a nearby race of men both hated and feared by the people of Survin. Because of this, Kairma's younger sister Kinter, who is in love with Naturi, believes she is the rightful heir.

Disease and infertility have decimated Survin, but bigotry and religious laws forbid the introduction of new members so things heat up when a traveling archeologist stumbles upon the reclusive colony and introduces a powerful new weapon. Forced into a larger world, the Survinees discover they hold an object of unimaginable power, a power other men covet, a power that might save or forever damn the human race.

The Fixer

Joseph Finder

DescriptionWhen former investigative reporter Rick Hoffman loses his job, fiancée, and apartment, his only option is to move back into — and renovate — the home of his miserable youth, now empty and in decay since the stroke that put his father in a nursing home.

The Brutus Gate
by
Billy Ray Chitwood

DescriptionBailey Crane, auxiliary cop for the Phoenix PD, is set-up by the bad guys and nearly consumed by a warehouse fire as this adventure begins. One of the thugs utters a mysterious phrase, 'Beware the Brutus Gate,' and the boys in blue have a good chuckle and try to figure out its meaning. This simple string of words marks the start of a tale that leads our southern muser/sleuth to the worst criminal elements in our society, elements that reach the highest levels of government and politics. Bailey encounters the players of the drug world, murder, and political corruption with his special panache and contempt. It's a case that has it all, and there are some personal changes in the life of our crusader for truth and justice. Bailey's emotions run the normal gamut as he plods and ponders his new realities, his life, and the meaning of it all. The climax to THE BRUTUS GATE plays out at an old ranch on the Mexican border, just south of Yuma, Arizona. It's a fun caper you won't want to miss.

Michele Poague

DescriptionThis book continues to follow the band of young Survinees as they are forced from their home by Narvin, a madman who desires the Healing Crystal no matter the cost. As the story unfolds questions also unfold:

At just sixteen, can Kairma protect her band of refugees from Narvin as he chases them through deserts and mountains and protect them from each other when the true nature of the crystal is revealed?

Will the rogue Colin win Kairma or be forever banned from her by religious law, by his wanderlust ways, or by the evil carried in Kairma's blood?

Will Kinter forever lie in the shadow of her sister Kairma or will a twist of fate bring her almost everything but what she most desires?

With the death of their companions will Naturi once again lose his father to depression, and, when the true nature of the crystal is revealed, as one's faith crumbles and the other's is renewed, will the gulf between them become impossible to cross
