The Tessellation Saga - Book Two

The second chapter in 'The Tessellation Saga' sees Jed, absent without leave from the Derovian army and heading home to warn his blood brother of King Gath's intentions. On the way he stumbles on a slave camp filled with the villagers from Green Home. Angry but not seeing his sister or Gideon amongst the slaves he rushes back the way he came to find Varen and seek help. Stumbling in the dark he comes across an injured Toby, unconscious and suffering from hypothermia. Toby reveals that Mayan is dead, raped and murdered by Gideon himself, he hands Gideon, Mayan's blue necklace as proof! Unable to feel his sister using the 'twin thing' Jed believes Toby and vows to see Gideon dead by his own hand.

Meanwhile Gideon is struggling with his own problems, he is ill, possibly dying and no one can work out why. The company arrive in Green Home only to find it razed to the ground, the wolf Blue leads them all into the forest to a clearing where they sit in angry frustration and wait for something, anything, to happen. Gath, arriving at Green Home just hours after Gideon has left is furious but decides to travel on toward The Bleak, knowing that Gideon will eventually be drawn there.

Back in the clearing, Gideon sits to one side away from his friends as he ponders all that has happened, with his carving in his hand he suddenly sees the answer to a riddle the old man in his vision gave him and as the others look on a gateway tessellates before them and Gideon disappears through it.

A Dead Husband
by
Anna Burke

DescriptionJessica Huntington Desert Cities Mystery Book 1

Jessica Huntington, rich, beautiful, and smart, seeks refuge from betrayal in a desert paradise near Palm Springs only to discover life is full of surprises...like a dead husband. Jessica Huntington is hiding out from her own well-planned life, now in shambles. Her law career tanked by the Great Recession, she failed miserably as a desperate housewife in the Silicon Valley playing beat-the-clock with her 30-something hormones. In the end she put on a little baby fat, but no baby. The final blow: walking in on her husband in bed with a well-known Hollywood blond. The Rancho Mirage home where she grew up, surrounded by the beauty of the desert resort town near Palm Springs, seems the perfect place to take refuge. That is until her best friend's husband is murdered. Jessica and her friends are soon thrust into the fray stalked by scoundrels in pantyhose, stilettos, Bruno Magli shoes, and Armani suits. Roger Stone had something that got him killed. What was it and to what lengths will they go to get it back?

The Reliable Wife
by
Robert Goolrick

DescriptionRural Wisconsin, 1909. In the bitter cold, Ralph Truitt, a successful businessman, stands alone on a train platform waiting for the woman who answered his newspaper advertisement for "a reliable wife." But when Catherine Land steps off the train from Chicago, she's not the "simple, honest woman" that Ralph is expecting. She is both complex and devious, haunted by a terrible past and motivated by greed. Her plan is simple: she will win this man's devotion, and then, ever so slowly, she will poison him and leave Wisconsin a wealthy widow. What she has not counted on, though, is that Truitt — a passionate man with his own dark secrets —has plans of his own for his new wife. Isolated on a remote estate and imprisoned by relentless snow, the story of Ralph and Catherine unfolds in unimaginable ways.

With echoes of Wuthering Heights and Rebecca, Robert Goolrick's intoxicating debut novel delivers a classic tale of suspenseful seduction, set in a world that seems to have gone temporarily off its axis.
