The Time Traveler's Fool
by Carl Stevens

A Psychological Mystery of Literary Survival

In a dialogue over six days between a psychiatrist and a man claiming to be a time traveler you decide if he is a lunatic, a time traveler, a murderer, a victim, all of the above or none. Start reading convinced that he is insane and end satisfied that you were right all along. Start reading convinced that he travels through time and end satisfied that you were right all along. Then begin the endless discussion with yourself or others about how both readings can be right or must be wrong.

Whoever he may be he is an articulate weaver of tales hilarious and horrible which include writing love poetry in the body of a shepherd boy wooing his first love, leading a small group of would-be legionaries in the body of a commander who has gotten them into a royal mess in the desert, fleeing a lynch mob in the body of a slave who may have been better off before a helping hand (or mind) and much more. The Time Traveler's Fool is a rollicking good read but the reader who cares to dig deeper will also find serious literary themes of reality, perception, identity and the unintended consequences of good deeds. The Canterbury Tales in Neverland and The Charging Bull of Terry County are also on Amazon.

Borrowed Trouble
by
Penny Childs

DescriptionHaving it all means different things to different people…

Nash Kincaid couldn’t want for much more than he had. He lived on the ranch he’d grown up on and he answered only to himself and the land he loved. But sometimes having everything you want comes with a price tag. Sometimes what you have is exactly what someone else wants. And sometimes they are willing to kill for it.

Lured into the woods on a snowy, moonlit night, Nash Kincaid is shot down for reasons no one but his killer can fathom.

Reeling from the news of his brother’s death, Sutton Kincaid rushes from his penthouse in New York to his younger brother’s ranch. He’d left his family’s Montana ranch when he’d graduated high school and had never looked back. Now, it would seem, that is all he can do. Until he bumps into River Montieth, the feisty rancher’s daughter who lives next door. She stirs in him feelings he’d long since forgotten he was capable of and makes him second guess the choices he’s made.

There’s just one little problem. Could she have been the one who had killed Nash?

But it seems Lizzie’s mother has moved on as well. She’s moved her toyboy – a muscle-bound vintner named Cal – into the family home, and given him the run of the land that was meant to be Lizzie’s inheritance!

Cal’s wine business frequently takes him to France, and suddenly wherever Lizzie goes, he’s already there – meddling, giving unsolicited advice, saving her little boy’s life and stealing her heart. But none of this changes the fact that he’s her mother’s lover…

The Honor of Spies
by
W.E.B. Griffin

DescriptionFrogger's parents are in Frade's custody in Argentina, because of their involvement in a secret German plan to establish safe havens for senior Nazi officials in South America, and the younger Frogger has agreed to help find out what they know. Even more important, however, is the secret within the secret. Before he was captured in Africa, Frogger was part of a conspiracy; its goal: to assassinate Adolf Hitler. If the OSS can use his knowledge and connections to nudge that plot along, even just a little bit? they may be able to end this war right now. But Frade is not the only one who knows about the Froggers. Even as he stands there in Mississippi, a troop of Germans and Argentinians, led by a Colonel Juan Perón, is on its way to kill the parents and, after them, Frade himself. His career in the OSS may have been brief?but it may just be about to be over. Filled with the special flair that Griffin?s fans have come to expect, The Honor of Spies is another rousing adventure from one of our finest storytellers.

Ride the Jawbone
by
Jim Moore

DescriptionRide the Jawbone weaves a compelling story of a gruesome murder and of a young lawyer who is called upon to defend the loathsome vagrant accused of the killing a young woman and throwing her body from the train. When no established attorney will defend the alleged murderer, the judge all but orders young T. C. Bruce, newly licensed to practice law, to undertake the task. While tracking the efforts of the young attorney to save his client from the hangman, the reader is transported back in time to central Montana, its ranching communities, and the famous Jawbone Railroad, as they existed at the turn of the twentieth century. Ride the Jawbone is a history lesson wrapped in a gripping mystery. Richard A. Harlow, without adequate financing is said to have jawboned the first railroad in central Montana into existence, a creation thereafter known only as the Jawbone. T. C. Bruce is the son of a rancher with a large spread near the newly created town of Two Dot. He loves ranching and is torn between his pleasing his father who wishes for him to take over the ranch and his mother who wants him to put his education to use. Two young women, different in every aspect, lend spice to the story. Lessons in the history and culture of place are most enjoyable when encountered in a story with rich characters and a challenging plot. Ride the Jawbone, a 225 page paperback original fills this bill effectively. Readers will learn much about the way of life of ranchers and other citizens of that place and time. The rich, eye-catching cover is crafted from a 1904 painting by R. E. DeCamp, which shows the Jawbone Railroad as it traveled through Sixteen Mile Canyon. A comprehensive discussion guide is included in the back of the book.
