Bangkok 8
by John Burdett

A Royal Thai Detective Novel (1)

A thriller with attitude to spare, Bangkok 8 is a sexy, razor-edged, often darkly hilarious novel set in one of the world’s most exotic cities.

Witnessed by a throng of gaping spectators, a charismatic Marine sergeant is murdered under a Bangkok bridge inside a bolted-shut Mercedes Benz. Among the witnesses are the only two cops in the city not on the take, but within moments one is murdered and his partner, Sonchai Jitpleecheep—a devout Buddhist and the son of a Thai bar girl and a long-gone Vietnam War G.I.—is hell-bent on wreaking revenge. On a vigilante mission to capture his partner’s murderer, Sonchai is begrudgingly paired with a beautiful FBI agent named Jones and captures her heart in the process. In a city fueled by illicit drugs and infinite corruption, prostitution and priceless art, Sonchai’s quest for vengeance takes him into a world much more sinister than he could have ever imagined.

The Deadliest Game
by
H.E. Joyce

DescriptionA storm is coming, to the small town of Brooksville, Maine, and also for Laura. After moving from Chicago with her young son, Laura finds a degree of the inner peace she has longed for. However, the idyllic life she has found changes when Laura meets Michael Peterson at a Halloween dance. After a brief romance they marry and, for a while, life seems perfect. That is, until she begins to receive disturbing phone calls and sees shapes lurking in dark shadows. Deep feelings of distrust take over her thoughts. Is she losing touch with reality? Or is her past catching up with her?

Hot Southern Mess
by
Gen Griffin

DescriptionGracie Malone has made a lot of mistakes.

She didn't mean to be her parents' problem child.

She never intended for her stupid, silly fight with Cal to turn into their last fight.

She definitely never imagined he'd decide he wanted to marry someone other than her.

The Short Book of Short Shorts
by
George Angus

Description

This little collection of stories is in what's known as a “flash fiction” format. Flash fiction is typically a story that can be told in 1,000 words or less. It creates a bit of a challenge for the writer in that with that kind of word limit every word is precious and needs to have impact.

For readers, the advantage in these kinds of stories is that they are bite-sized. This book is easily readable in a single setting and the stories are varied enough to hold your interest. I tend to write in a conversational tone and this will be evident. What is also evident is the use of everyday language, hence you may be subjected to harsh language on occasion. Trust that there is no profanity just for profanity's sake. If you enjoyed these stories, I would appreciate you taking a minute and posting a review.

The Stories

Sickhouse – The ultimate act of revenge on an inanimate object by a man convinced the house is the cause of all his problems.

Questions and Answers – Sometimes, age is not a boundary in friendship.

The Story of Charlie Z – The all-American neighborhood and who may lurk there.

Perfect Weekend – An account of a truly magical weekend.

Fading – Come be a part of a writer's descent into madness.

Xnortherner – A humorous take on living in the great north.

The Writer's Fable – A setting in a distant time with implications in today's world.

The Crazy Lady Who Yells At Her Dogs – A favorite of the author. Every town in America has a person like this.

The Christmas Story – A true story of hope and good cheer during the holiday season.

Night Stocker – An obvious play on words or something different?

The Good Night – A breautiful story of love and redemption in old Scotland.

Even Steven – Based on actual events, a perspective of life and death.

Trouble In The Stacks – Quiet in the Library, please.

Election Day
by
Jim Moore

DescriptionWhat if, just days after the national election, the man who would be president and his chosen running mate are dead? Who becomes president and how is that person chosen? Our founding fathers possessed keen insight for solving such contingencies, a fact made clear in this political thriller by the author of Ride the Jawbone. Moore throws in four would-be kingmakers, an unscrupulous, power-hungry egomaniac who will stop at nothing to become president, and an earnest rancher/lawyer from Montana, Bobby Hobaugh, who becomes a pawn in an election scheme. It all adds up to an unforgettable story that will change the way you look at our process for choosing those who would lead us.
